Privacy policy

The short version: the DebtPathway calculator runs entirely in your browser. The debts and numbers you enter are never sent to me, stored, or sold. The only data collected is by Google's ad tags and the standard logs your web host keeps. Details below.

Who runs this site

DebtPathway (debtpathway.org) is built and run by one person, Mike Mulik, in Ontario, Canada, under the name doubleM. In this policy, “I” and “me” mean him. Questions? Email hello@doublem.ca.

What I don't collect

DebtPathway is a calculator that runs completely on your device. The balances, interest rates, payments, and any other figures you enter:

  • are processed only in your browser,
  • are never transmitted to a server (there isn't one that receives them),
  • are never stored, and
  • are never sold or shared.

There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no contact forms on the site, so no names, emails, or logins get collected through it. Close the tab and your numbers are gone.

Information collected automatically

Even though nothing you enter is collected, two ordinary things happen on almost any website:

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site carries Google AdSense tags. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies and may collect information, such as your device, browser, IP address, and interactions with ads, to serve and measure ads, including, where permitted, personalized ads based on your interests. I don't control or receive the data Google collects.

Hosting & server logs

The host keeps standard server logs, typically your IP address, browser type, and the time of each request, to operate and secure the site. This is normal for any website and isn't tied to anything you type into the calculator.

Cookies

DebtPathway sets no tracking cookies of its own. The cookies you may see come from Google's ad tags. You can control or block cookies in your browser settings, and visitors in regions that require consent (such as the EU and California) are asked for their choices through Google's consent message before personalized ads run.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to third-party sites, for example a lender, a regulator, or a credit counselling agency. Once you click out, the other company's privacy policy applies rather than this one. If a link on this site is ever a paid or commission-earning one, it will be labelled as such where it appears, as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

  • You can opt out of personalized advertising anytime using the Google links above or your browser's cookie settings.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing,” for example under the EU/UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, or Canada's PIPEDA. Because no personal information is collected or stored here, most such requests relate to Google's ad data and are best exercised through Google's controls.   • The information you enter into the calculator is never sold, because it is never received in the first place.

Children

DebtPathway is meant for a general adult audience and isn't directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). No personal information is knowingly collected from children.

International visitors

This site is run from Ontario, Canada, and Google, whose ad tags appear on it, processes data on infrastructure around the world. By using the site, you understand your information may be processed in countries other than your own.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the site or the law changes. When that happens, the “last updated” date at the top gets revised.
